Orange Martini Project- Modernism Today

The Orange Martini Project -Modernism Today, photographed by Lani Garfield.

A one-of-a-kind art exhibit featuring lenticular prints that "move" when viewed from different angles, and showcases fun, Palm Springs lifestyle scenes.  The series of 9 prints will be unveiled at the Palm Springs Hilton lobby as part of Modernism Week on February 13, 2013, and also along Palm Canyon in participating uptown district stores.  Proceeds from these two shows will go to The Palm Springs High School Arts Institute.

The Orange Martini Project is a series of unconventionally displayed photographs featuring Palm Springs and it's amazing community. With participation from various local friends, artists, businesses, and even the mayor- capturing the essence of the Modern lifestyle here in PS. The lenticular prints will show a scene in "motion" when viewed from one side or another. The interactive display showcases the hip, locally found clothes and iconic mid-century modern architecture in a way that blurs the line between today and the days when The Rat Pack stayed and played in the desert.

"It's not just about looking backwards with nostalgia", Garfield explains. "It's about looking forward. It's how we live today in a place with a colorful, fun, architecturally significant history."

The series of nine 24x36" limited edition of 20, lenticular prints are on sale throughout Palm Springs, and smaller 5x7 prints of the series will be available in a limited run of 100.
